What our customers say
‘Dance events in the south of England are just too far away,’ said Lyn Gittins, who along with Julia Carr, runs the Linsey Academy of Dance near her home in Blyth, Northumberland.
So Lyn solved the problem by organising her own event at Haven’s Haggerston Castle Holiday Park, less than an hour’s drive away. That was 15 years ago and now the annual weekend away has become a highlight for pupils and their families.
Five years ago Lyn tried Berwick Holiday Park ‘for a change’ and was even happier with the facilities and location. ‘People can walk into town,’ she said, ‘and easy public transport links are a big bonus.’ Lyn books between 50-60 caravans and has sole daytime use of the ShowBar for dance lessons and competitions.
Lyn also said, ‘We teach all sorts of dance and always add in something different over these breaks to encourage families to join in. We’ve had lessons in Swing, Ceroc, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Lindy Hop and even acrobatics. Last time we tried Zumba which was a great success!’
Next year Lyn is considering running two events and might even venture further south to one of Haven’s Yorkshire parks to offer her dance events to more people!
